Sound Of Silence

Client: State Academy of Design Stuttgart

The Sound of Silence was an extraordinary record by Simon and Garfunkel. Steffen took the chance to redesign a selfselected best of silence-song record. The task was to visualize silence. But how do you show something that doesn’t really exist? Maybe through illustrations that are hardly visible? Come on, think! Right answer: in shades of grey!
The illustrations in grey show abandonned landscapes, far far away from loud civilisation.
That’s why the record cover shows what you should do while listening to the wonderful music: look and listen carefully. Silence is hard to catch but a miracle if you understand the joy of it.
